Egretier (Narbonne) enters redressement, stops new vineyard-machine builds
The Narbonne commercial court has opened redressement judiciaire for SARL Jean Michel Egretier after ending its sauvegarde plan. The maker — known for décavaillonneuses — stops new vineyard-machine production; agro-food kit keeps the firm afloat as vineyard-line sales for some reps fall from about €1m to €300k.
A Narbonne name for under-vine ploughs just hit the brakes on new builds.
Vitisphere reports that on 29 July 2026 the Tribunal de commerce de Narbonne resolved SARL Jean Michel Egretier’s sauvegarde plan and opened a redressement judiciaire — observation period included. The firm, long known among growers for décavaillonneuses and other vineyard kit, is stopping new vineyard-machine production. Agro-food equipment — lines for abattoirs and frozen-veg plants among them — is what still pays the bills.
Boss Jean Michel Egretier puts the vineyard slump in blunt euros: salespeople who once moved about €1 million of vineyard gear were closer to €300,000. “When there are no clients, there are no clients,” he told the paper — even for a known brand. Building five machines a year would still burn logistics and stock costs the market no longer covers.
Orders already placed were delivered. Used machines and spare parts remain for after-sales. Fresh vineyard-machine orders, for now, get a no. The door is not welded shut: if demand returns in later years, he says the know-how is still there. First job is to steady the ship in observation.
Mini-concept: a wine region’s crisis is not only in the vat. When growers stop buying tools, the workshop upstream feels the same drought as the cellar.
Keep: cheap bulk wine and idle vineyards do not need a new décavaillonneuse — a living vine row still does.
Remember: Egretier Narbonne — redressement after sauvegarde end (29 Jul); new vineyard machines stopped; agro-food floats the firm; vineyard sales ~€1m → €300k for some lines.
