Tokaj’s DWWA 2026 Platinum record includes dry Furmint
Tokaj Today reports a record Platinum haul at Decanter World Wine Awards 2026: Oremus Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2016 Best in Show and Füleky Furmint 2024 among seven 97-point Platinums. Dry Tokaj joins the sweet prestige map.
Sweet Tokaj already owned a myth. 2026’s Decanter scores widen the frame.
Tokaj Today tallies a record Platinum run: seven wines at 97 points, including Best in Show for Oremus Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2016 and — crucially — Füleky’s dry Furmint 2024. Other Platinums lean classic sweet styles from Balassa, Antalóczy, Béres and Juliet Victor. Across 47 winning entries, 32 scored 90+ with nine Golds and 16 Silvers.
Mini-concept: a dry Platinum teaches drinkers that Tokaj is a region, not only a dessert word. Furmint’s acid and volcanic grip can win without residual sugar.
Choice: celebrate with a scored Furmint or Aszú instead of a syrupy no-origin can. Medals are imperfect, but they point at place.
Pattern: record Platinums, Best in Show Aszú, dry Furmint at 97. Sweet legend, dry proof.
Keep the pattern in mind: a place, a number, and a reason to open the bottle. That is how wine stays a choice on a thinner calendar — not background noise, not a random can.
