Purcari’s H1: Romania slipped 9.5%, Bulgaria jumped 23.6%

Group revenue fell 7% to RON 182.2 million while EBITDA rose 6% to RON 51.9 million. The split that matters: Romania, still the largest market, dropped 9.5%; Bulgaria grew 23.6% and overtook Poland.

A group number can hide the map. Purcari’s first half did.

Purcari Wineries reported H1 2026 revenue of RON 182.2 million, down 7% year on year. Softer Romanian demand and a shift in CEE distribution weighed on sales; Moldova and Bulgaria partly offset that. EBITDA still grew 6% to RON 51.9 million, and the margin widened three points to 28.5% on cost discipline. Net profit was RON 15.0 million, down 4%, as higher depreciation and finance costs ate the EBITDA gain.

The commercial map is the lesson. Romania, still the group’s largest market, fell 9.5% to RON 105 million. Fiscal tightening and weaker consumers hit Purcari-brand volumes hardest. Bulgaria rose 23.6% to RON 10.3 million on volume, distribution and share gains — enough to overtake Poland in the group ranking. Moldova was broadly stable at RON 29.4 million (+0.7%). CEE dropped 14.9% during the distribution transition; rest of world fell 5.3%.

The group farms more than 2,000 hectares and runs seven platforms in Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria. CEO and founder Victor Bostan called the half a stretch of commercial change. He said the investment cycle is finishing, harvest signs look encouraging, and the second half should be stronger.

Mini-concept: a group revenue line is an average. The market split tells you where the bottle actually moved.

A flavoured can does not publish a country mix. These bottles either held in Romania or grew in Bulgaria.

Remember: Romania −9.5%, Bulgaria +23.6%.
