Brazil H1 imports rise: Chile stays #1, Argentina #2 as packaged wine rules

Brazil imported 79.4 million litres of wine in H1 2026 (+9.1%) worth €234.3m (+5.9%) at €2.95/l (−2.9%). Chile leads with 39.2m litres; Argentina is second on 13.5m litres as Portugal sits close third — and packaged wine is 96% of volume.

Brazil’s import tap opened wider in the first half.

Observatorio Vitivinícola Argentino, citing SECEX data via OIVE, puts H1 2026 at 79.4 million litres (+9.1%) and €234.3 million (+5.9%), with average price easing to €2.95 per litre (−2.9%). Growth came with a softer ticket — more liquid, slightly cheaper per litre.

Chile remains the clear leader: 39.2 million litres (+11.9%) and about €93 million (+9.7%). Argentina holds second place on 13.5 million litres (+14.5%) and €39.9 million (+1.7%). Portugal sits close third. Packaged wine dominates — 76.6 million litres, or 96% of volume and 92% of value.

Mini-concept: when packaged share is this high, the story is shelf brands, not tanker maths. Volume can rise while unit price softens if mid-shelf competition intensifies.

Spain slipped in the ranking on sparkling weakness, a reminder that category mix inside the same buyer market can flip positions fast.

For Brazilian drinkers, more imported bottles mean denser choice on the Argentina and Chile shelves — and pressure on local houses to keep quality sharp.

Remember: Brazil H1 79.4m litres (+9.1%); Chile #1, Argentina #2; packaged = 96% of volume.
