Yugoiztochen grows 40% of Bulgaria’s 2025 grapes

The Southeast planning region produced 40% of Bulgaria’s 2025 grape tonnage; South Central added 37%. The MZH map shows national litres concentrated in two southern engines.

Bulgarian wine talk jumps between Melnik, Thracian Lowland and Black Sea labels. The Ministry’s 2025 numbers draw a simpler map.

Yugoiztochen (Southeast) accounted for 40% of national grape production — about 46,500 tons. Yuzhen tsentralen (South Central) added 37%. Together those two regions dominate the country’s litres. Harvested area and yield stress still vary, but concentration is the headline.

Mini-concept: regional share explains logistics and risk. When frost or drought hits one southern engine, national output moves with it. Diversity of labels does not always mean diversity of tonnage.

For drinkers, reading “Southeast + South Central ≈ 77%” is a reason to care where a bottle’s fruit actually grew — place over anonymous blend cans.

Pattern: 40% Southeast, 37% South Central. Two regions, most of the grapes.

Keep the pattern in mind: a place, a number, and a reason to open the bottle. That is how wine stays a choice on a thinner calendar — not background noise, not a random can.
