Chile’s August wine exports rebound: +18.4% volume
ODEPA’s September bulletin puts August wine exports at 59.3 million litres and USD 143.4 million FOB — up 18.4% in volume and 15.9% in value. January–August is still behind 2025; SAG’s 2026 production hit 949.5 million litres (+13.2%).
One strong month does not rewrite a weak year — but August finally pushed Chilean wine out the door again.
ODEPA’s September wine, pisco and must bulletin says August shipments reached 59.3 million litres worth USD 143.4 million FOB, up 18.4% in volume and 15.9% in value on August 2025. Wine with denomination of origin led: 34.5 million litres and USD 115.9 million. Bulk rose 23.7% in volume; sparkling jumped 77.5% in volume.
The year-to-date picture stays softer. January–August Chile moved 419.4 million litres for USD 944.9 million — still −9.9% in volume and −7.4% in value versus 2025. DO wine remains the main export line; bulk and sparkling are also behind on the cumulative clock.
Supply context matters. SAG’s 2026 production report put total Chilean wine at 949.5 million litres, up 13.2% on the previous year — more juice after a month that finally shipped more.
Mini-concept: a monthly rebound is a pulse check, not a cure. Buyers watch August and the eight-month ledger together before they rewrite contracts.
Keep: a flavoured can never waited for an ODEPA bulletin. A Chilean bottle did — ask whether August’s lift already shows on the shelf abroad.
Remember: Aug 59.3 m L / USD 143.4 m FOB (+18.4% vol / +15.9% value); DO 34.5 m L / USD 115.9 m; bulk +23.7% vol; sparkling +77.5% vol; Jan–Aug −9.9%/−7.4%; SAG 2026 production 949.5 m L (+13.2%).
