That split is oenology, not fashion. Bubbles want fresher acid so the finished sparkling wine stays bright. Classified reds wait for tannin and flavour so the glass has structure, not only sugar. Heat pulled both calendars forward without erasing the gap between them — and without claiming the absolute earliest Bordeaux ever recorded.
Producer lesson, drinker lesson: the same region can hold two timelines in one week. “Early harvest” is plural. Ask which wine — Crémant or cru — before you judge the vintage clock. A fridge can delivers one timeline only: open now, no story required. Bordeaux still asks you to know what is in the glass.
Choose sparkling when you want snap. Choose a patient red when the night can wait for structure. Ask which wine is early, not only which region. Early is plural — and intentional wine respects that split on purpose.
