Kakheti qvevri pair takes twin Mundus Vini golds

Wine Kakheti’s “Vivi Rkatsiteli Qvevri” and “Vivi Saperavi Qvevri” both won gold at Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2026 in Germany under blind tasting. The clay-vessel method has UNESCO intangible heritage status since 2013.

Two indigenous Kakheti bottles — one amber-leaning white path, one dark red — left Germany with the same metal.

Caliber.Az reports that Wine Kakheti’s “Vivi Rkatsiteli Qvevri” and “Vivi Saperavi Qvevri” both earned gold at the Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2026. Judges worked blind: aroma, taste, balance and structure without brand or producer on the sheet.

Mini-concept: qvevri as vessel, not costume. UNESCO recognised the Georgian qvevri method as intangible cultural heritage in 2013 — large clay amphorae buried for fermentation and ageing. Rkatsiteli and Saperavi are the indigenous pair that still carry that cellar story into modern competitions: skin contact, texture and place, scored against the world without a folklore discount.

The winery called the twin golds recognition of quality and potential for Georgian qvevri wine — not nostalgia alone. Blind medals matter because they strip folklore marketing and leave juice, clay and craft on the score sheet — the same reason collectors chase skin-contact Rkatsiteli beside dark Saperavi.

For millennials and Gen Z, a qvevri pour is an intentional texture night versus a neutral industrial white or another RTD can.

Remember: twin Mundus Vini 2026 golds for Vivi Rkatsiteli Qvevri + Vivi Saperavi Qvevri; Wine Kakheti; UNESCO qvevri 2013; blind jury.
