Derek Li emerges as Hong Kong’s first homegrown Master Sommelier, a local pathway instead of only overseas odysseys. Julien Boulard, already a Master of Wine, adds the MS pin and enters a tiny worldwide club of people holding both titles — on the order of six. Theory, blind tasting, and service under pressure all still apply. The geography of the test room changed.
