Chișinău’s National Wine Day turns 25 in the main square
The 25th National Wine Day is on 3–4 October 2026 in the Great National Assembly Square: 100+ producers, a Wine School, and the lines #VinulCareNeUnește / #UnitedbyWine. ONVV runs it with the agriculture and culture ministries. First held in 2002.
Chișinău marks 25 years of National Wine Day in the main square.
The 25th edition is on 3 and 4 October 2026 in the Great National Assembly Square. The National Office for Vine and Wine (ONVV) expects more than 100 producers and tens of thousands of visitors from Moldova and abroad. ONVV organises it with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the Ministry of Culture. The weekend is about Moldovan wine, the people who make it, and traditions the office calls one of the country’s clearest calling cards.
Visitors are promised new wines, limited editions and familiar bottles, with the winemaker there to explain them. The Wine School runs masterclasses with certified sommeliers — varieties, tasting, pairing with traditional dishes — plus rest areas, hands-on stops and food built around local cooking. The slogans are #VinulCareNeUnește and #UnitedbyWine, aimed at the Wine of Moldova brand and at the range the country actually produces.
The first edition was in 2002, launched by the authorities under the patronage of the presidency. Over more than 25 years the day has become one of the main wine events in the region.
Mini-concept: an anniversary in the capital square is not a trade tasting with a badge. It is two public days with the glass in the middle of the city.
Keep: a flavoured cooler never needed a Wine School on the Great National Assembly Square. This weekend does — ask which vineyard the pour came from.
