In Burgos province, DO Arlanza’s council president Ramiro García told Diario de Burgos the fruit looks “muy sana” — very healthy — after August storms plump small berries. Ribera and Rioja already picked some parcels. Arlanza expects a broader pick by late September.
Yet the celebration does not wait for the last bunch. The XVII Fiesta de la Vendimia Arlanza lands in Lerma on 28–29 August, paired with the II Feria del Vino: jazz, underground bodega visits, grape stomping, first-must tastings, and awards for grower, bodega and restaurant of the year. The council wants Lerma as a fixed epicentre, not a rotating village stop.
Mini-concept: a festival calendar can decouple from phenology. Tourism books weekends; vines answer heat and rain. Saying “el verano madura aquí” is both weather talk and hospitality math.
For millennials and Gen Z, that split is a choice cue. You can drink a nameless can at any party, or show up where a DO stamps stomping, mosto and underground cellars on a real map. Intention is the difference between foam and place.
