The opener was Tempranillo Blanco — a light-skinned mutation of Rioja’s famous red grape that ripens ahead of the tinted cousins.
Mini-concept: white versions of red grapes often run an earlier sugar clock. Thinner skins and different canopy behaviour mean they hit press targets first. Regions use them as the canary: when Blanco is ready, reds are not far behind — but they are not the same day.
