Borders blur when marketing finds a river — and about five million consumers along it.
Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova launched a joint international push under the motto “Treasures of the East.” The idea is simple. Sell as one wine-and-tourism region instead of three separate, quieter brands that buyers keep mixing up. The flagship event is planned for Craiova on 2–4 October. For the first time, the Vinul.ro Awards of Excellence also open to Bulgarian and Moldovan wines. The programme includes a Bulgarian–Romanian business forum and market-entry talks for producers facing that Danube corridor.
Why bother? Small origins often lose shelf space to famous names and easy drinks. A shared stage packs more buyers into one room than three lonely stands. Awards that cross borders give journalists and sommeliers a single story to remember. That memory is what turns a curious glass into a reorder.
Mini-concept: regional bundling. When three neighbours share a calendar, they borrow each other’s attention without losing their grapes. For drinkers choosing an intentional Eastern European bottle over a default imported can or cocktail, Craiova early October is the temporary map.
Keep the dates. 2–4 October in Craiova: three origins, one stage, one chance to be remembered as a region.
